Correspondence relating to the negotiations in London with the Sultan of Muscat over articles for inclusion in a new treaty 'to replace the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation signed at Muscat on the 19th March, 1891, which terminates on the 11th February, 1939.' The file includes drafts of the articles 1 to 23 with notes in the margin where the Sultan proposed a different wording. Correspondents include the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf Historically used by the British to refer to the sea area between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran.
