This file contains correspondence between the British officials in Bahrain, Bushire, Baghdad, the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. and the Government of India, as well as with Khalīl bin Ibrāhīm Kanoo [Kānū].

These papers concern various enquiries made by the British Admiralty between 1929 and 1938 regarding flags flown by the sheikhs of Qatar, Bahrain and the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. . Contained within this file are descriptions and sketches of various flags, as well as a specimen of fabric (f. 38) demonstrating the colour of the flag flown by the Shaikh of Qatar, ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī.
