the 27th Rajab 1330 (=13th July 1912) in w hich you have referred to the desire
^ the High and Imperial Government to have tlie telegraph in our town of
Kuwait and (stated) that on Your Honour's return to Eushire, you found, as
you expected, final instructions from the High and Imperial Government to
inform us of their desire and to ask for our co-operation in this object and that
the existence of the telegraph will be a source of ease to the High Government
and our people.
I have personally informed Your Honour when I had the pleasure of
your august interview, of my co-operation and concord in this and other
matteis, which are conducive to reform and which you consider to be agreeable
to (our) welfare, in accordance with such orders as may be issued thereon by
the High and Imperial Government and according to your august wishes. ^ *
The details will be explained to us by our friend Captain Shakespear, as
ordered by you, when the work progresses, and we w r ill also explain to him the
manner which will tend to our ease. And we pray to God to crown all your
efforts with success and to grant happy results, and enable us to obtain your
satisfaction by word and deed.
We trust that your kind regards will endure and that you w r ill accept my
assurance of high esteem and continue to be preserved.

  • Kuwait Oil Agreement of 1913.

Arrangement

There is a list of the serial numbers of the contents toward the front of each volume, on folios 3 and 23.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation sequence commences at 1 on the front cover of volume one, the first folio after the outer cover. Volume one is numbered 1-20. The sequence then continues into volume two, resuming at 21, the first folio after the inner cover of that volume. Volume two is numbered 21-40. The sequence terminates at 40, the last folio before the back inner and back outer covers. These numbers are written in pencil, are enclosed in a circle, and appear in the top right hand corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. page of each folio. Incomplete printed pagination sequences also occur in both the English and Arabic sections.
