Letter in Arabic, with envelope, to Thuwaini bin Said al-Said, Sultan of Muscat. The letter is most likely from Lewis Pelly, as folio 16 contains a letter to Pelly from His Highness.

The letter is most likely written sometime between 1863 and 1865 as Lewis Pelly only commenced his position as Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. in mid-1862 and Thuwaini bin Said was killed in February 1866.
