On November the 2nd 1938 "Orient Arabe" Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Cairo
published the following item which appeared in several Arab
and French newspapers of Egypt and Syria:
n We are informed from Baghdad of the excellent results of the
prospections made in the Burgan district, about 35 miles from
the city of Kuwait. Oil beds were found in two different parts
of the district. Better results still are expected in the near
