About this record

Content

Genre/Subject Matter:

This aerial view of the Beni Bu Ali Fort looking south west was taken on 4 February 1932 by the R.A.F. during a reconnaissance mission in advance of a planned bombardment of Aiqa and Jaalan (Ja‘alān) described in following folios, f. 129-130.

In the upper part of the view, palm plantations can be seen, surrounded by regular walls. Other walled dwellings are scattered from left to right across the middleground while the fortified fort is visible at the centre of the image.

The inscriptions in the upper right corner probably refer to camera settings, as well as date and time of capture.
