KUKBIN (JEZIEAT).—Barren islet with small, brown-coloured peak.
30 to 40 feet high, in same cove of Koweit Bay as Koweit tou n Kurem lies
miles west-south-west of llas-al-Ajuza and | a mile olf shore. 1 o south-east is
a small basin with 2 fathoms of water called Bandar ^ ^ ^
boats lie perfectly sheltered from all winds. 1 iom this island ton tit took
older name of " Graine." 4 ,
I EGAIT.—Uninhabited camping-ground on way to Riadh, situated m a
depression, 2 inarches (? 18 miles) south of Koweir. Irom this point a track
runs south-west to Zulfah in Nejd.
MADERA.— Third stage oa (? coast) route from Koweit to Basra, about
48 miles from Koweit.
MALAH.—Eort 5 hours south -south-east of Koweit, first stage on route to
Eiadh and Tioint at which track ends. Around fort are some wells, a little
cultivation and a few temporary huts. Pelly considered this the south boun
dary of Koweit territory in 1865.
MARADIM (UMM AL).—Low, sandy islet, 25 miles south by east of
Jezirat Kubbar, under i a mile in diameter, covered with brushwood, but dis-
titute of water.
MASHKAN.—Low, sandy islet lying on the Tharub mud-flat between
Failaka and the mouth of the Kbor-as-Sabiya, 2 miles north.viest of Eailaka.
MEG AT A.—Halting place four marches from Koweit on one route to
Katif.
MERAGHAH.—Halting place four marches from Koweit on Taj route
to Hasa.
OMEN AG A.—Pifth stage on (? ccast) route from Koweit to Basra, about
78 miles from Koweit.
ORIAFA.— Place marked in Kiepert's Map, about 40 miles scuth-south-
west of Koweit and 30 miles from the coast.
REDAIE.—Name of a few remarkable sandhills forming a landmark on
the route from Koweit to Riadh, between the Shug and Wuriya districts.
RUMMAH (WADI-EK).—Valley in which Hafr is situated. See Section
III, Sub-section B.
SAB HA.—See Sabria.
SABIYA (KASR).—Uninhabited square enclosure belonging to Sheikh
of Koweit, situated on west bank of Khor -as-Sabiya near its mouth. Oppo
site Kasr Sabiya direction of Khor is due north and south and width about
miles.
