Content

The volumes are printed documents produced by the Government of India Foreign Department. The volumes contain transcripts of treaties and undertakings relating tyo Kuwait in English and (reading in from the rear of the volume) in Arabic. The treaties and undertakings reproduced are as follows:

  • Adherence to Maritime Truce, 1841;
  • Agreement of 1899;
  • Arms Traffic Agreement of 1900 and two proclamations, 1909;
  • Post Office Agreement of 1904;
  • Bandar Shwaikh [Bandar Shweikh] lease, 1907;
  • Pearl Fisheries Agreement of 1911;
  • Wireless Telegraph Agreement of 1912;
  • Kuwait Oil Agreement of 1913.

Arrangement

There is a list of the serial numbers of the contents toward the front of each volume, on folios 3 and 23.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation sequence commences at 1 on the front cover of volume one, the first folio after the outer cover. Volume one is numbered 1-20. The sequence then continues into volume two, resuming at 21, the first folio after the inner cover of that volume. Volume two is numbered 21-40. The sequence terminates at 40, the last folio before the back inner and back outer covers. These numbers are written in pencil, are enclosed in a circle, and appear in the top right hand corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. page of each folio. Incomplete printed pagination sequences also occur in both the English and Arabic sections.
