This file primarily concerns relations between the Yemen and Germany. The correspondence begins with details of a request received by the German Government from the Imam of Yemen [Yaḥyā Muḥammad Ḥamīd al-Dīn] for recognition and formal relations.

Also discussed is the progress of negotiations for a proposed treaty of friendship and commerce between the German Government and the Imam, as well as a case of mistaken identity, in which a junior Aden police officer is reported to have mistaken the German Minister Dr Prüfer [Curt Max Prüfer] for a German artist named Paul Beer.
