Signing of the Mining Lease by Representatives of The Bahrain
Petroleum Company Limited on the 29th December 19^4.
Before I hand over this fining Lease I should
like to take the opportunity of saying how very much I have
admired the way in which the Company have carried out their
work here. nave had some small personal experience of
engineering in places of this kind and can appreciate the.
organization and skill that has gone to bringing your Field
into being^ and particularly the really magnific|ent
achievement which made it possible for you to despatch your
first shipment in June. Another matter on which, if I iriev
say so, I should like to compliment you is the admirable
bearing of your personnel. It is not always easy in these
countries to work without friction with the local populace
and I warmly acknowledge the care that the Company have
taken in this respect and the excellent relations which they
have maintained with the local people.
