After Complinients,
With reference to pur yesterday*3 conversation on
the subject of the protection which the Government intend
to extend to me on land (al~Barr) • I should like to know
what sort of protection the Government refer to, and what
method would they adopt which will ensure safety and
protection on the sides from which trouble is expected.
Much danger comes from the desert and trouble comes from
different parts which also differ according to the then
state of affairs at such ports. As no one can tell what
the future would bring, it is necessary to know what
measures the Government intend to take then when they
grant me such protection# The Government may think tla t
the trouble of which I am afraid will come from one side
owing to the present state of affairs. It is, however,
possible that some change might take place through the
revolt of some of the tribesmen. What would the Govern
ment then do, if, God forbid, something of this nature
takes place. My intention is to find out the policy
which the Government would adopt and the measures
they intend to take then.
