(4) The price to tie paid for all oil or products
of tiie refining or treatment of oil taken in
pre-emption dy His Majesty's Government shall
de either (a) as specified in a separate
agreement or (d) if no such agreemsnt shall
have deen entered into, a fair price for the
time deing at the point of delivery as the
same shall de settled dy agreement detween
His Majesty's Government and tae company,
or in default of such agreement dy
arditration in the manner provided dy the
last preceding sud-clause.
To assist in arriving at a fair price
at the point of delivery the Company shall
. furnish for the confidential information of
His Majesty's Government, if so required,
particulars of the quantities, descriptions
ana prices of Qitar oil or products sold to
other customers and of charters or contracts
entered into for carriage and shall exhibit
to His Majesty's Government original or
authenticated copies of contracts or charter
parties entered into for the^ale and/or
carriage of such oil or products.
(5) His Majesty's Government shall de at liberty to
take control of the works, plant and
premises of the Company in Qatar, and in such
event the Company shall conform to and odey
all directions issued dy or on behalf of
His Majesty's Government, compensation shall
be paid to the company for any loss or
damage that may be proved to have been
sustained by the Company by reason of the
exercise by His tejesty's Government of the
powers conferred by this sub-clause. Any such
compensation shall be settled by agreement
between His Majesty's Government and tne
Company or, in default of agreement, by
arbitration in the manner provided by sub
clause (3).

The volume contains correspondence and telegrams between the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Bahrain and the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. at Bushire, the Government of India, the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. in London and Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) representatives in regard to the final negotiations with the Sheikh of Qatar before the signing of the oil concession.

The volume contains:the Qatar oil concession, signed by the Shaikh of Qatar, ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī, and APOC on 17 May 1935, in Arabic and English (folios 67-86) 'Sketch map of Qatar Peninsula' (folio 87); agreement 5 June 1935 between the British Government and APOC regarding the Qatar Oil Concession (folios 211-212).

There are some letters in Arabic, to and from the Sheikh of Qatar.

Arrangement

The documents in the volume are mostly arranged in chronological order. There are notes at the end of the volume, (folios 222-226). The file notes are arranged chronologically and refer to documents within the file; they give a brief description of the correspondence with reference numbers in red crayon, which refer back to that correspondence in the volume.

There is also an brief index at the beginning (f. 2) indicating the main topics covered in the volume.

Physical characteristics

The main foliation is written in pencil, circled, and can be found in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio. The numbering commences at the title page with 1, then 2-86; 87 and 87A and it carries on until 229, which is the last number given to the last folio of the volume.A second foliation sequence runs between ff. 3-220; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled, and can be found in the same position as the main sequence.
