agreement between the Company and His Majesty's

remedy such failure y /ithin the reasonable tLue
which shall be fixed by the arbitrators for so doing,
then in this case, as in the cases mentioned in
Article 14 of the Company's agreement -with you,
but in no other, the company agrees that you will
be entitled to terminate the agreement between the
Company and yourself and that all properties of
the Company within the state of Qatar shall become
your property and that they will hand over to you
free of cost land granted to the company by you
and any lands or buildings which the Company may
have bought and any houses or buildings constructed
by the Company and all other irremovable property
of the Company within the State of Qatar, including
the producing wells and borings which shall be
handed over in reasonably good order and repair.
4. You have intimated, after discussion with
me, that you understand the nature of the arrange
ments as set out above and that you are prepared to
agree to them, and I request that you will be good
enough to confirm this in writing.
On receipt of your reply His Majesty's
Government will obtain from the Company formal
confirmation of their acceptance of the arrangements
in question and will communjc ate such confirmation
to you.

The successor to the Court of Directors. in London and Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) representatives in regard to the final negotiations with the Sheikh of Qatar before the signing of the oil concession.

The volume contains:the Qatar oil concession, signed by the Shaikh of Qatar, ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī, and APOC on 17 May 1935, in Arabic and English (folios 67-86) 'Sketch map of Qatar Peninsula' (folio 87); agreement 5 June 1935 between the British Government and APOC regarding the Qatar Oil Concession (folios 211-212).

There are some letters in Arabic, to and from the Sheikh of Qatar.

Arrangement

The documents in the volume are mostly arranged in chronological order. There are notes at the end of the volume, (folios 222-226). The file notes are arranged chronologically and refer to documents within the file; they give a brief description of the correspondence with reference numbers in red crayon, which refer back to that correspondence in the volume.

There is also an brief index at the beginning (f. 2) indicating the main topics covered in the volume.

Physical characteristics

The main foliation is written in pencil, circled, and can be found in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio. The numbering commences at the title page with 1, then 2-86; 87 and 87A and it carries on until 229, which is the last number given to the last folio of the volume.A second foliation sequence runs between ff. 3-220; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled, and can be found in the same position as the main sequence.
