Content: The letter is acknowledging the commands of the Bengal Government From c. 1758-1858, the East India Company's administration in Bengal. From 1773-1833, the most senior of the three subdivisions of India, also known as the Supreme Government of India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. dated 7 December 1811. In response, it states that Lieutenant Lockett has arrived and departed Bushire for the interior with the permission of Sir Gore Ouseley. It further notes the measures William Bruce has taken to assist the Lieutenant with his endeavours.
