The file includes half-yearly statements (returns) showing the leave contemplated by the Clerical Establishment of the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. , Bahrain, 1935 to 1945 inclusive; correspondence between the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. and the office of the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. relating to the returns, leave of individuals, appointment of reliefs, and effect of war on applications for leave; correspondence from individual members of the Clerical Establishment requesting leave; and papers relating to travel arrangements.

Arrangement

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation system in use commences at 1 on the front cover, and continues through to 80 on the back cover. The sequence is written in pencil and appears in the top right hand corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. page of each folio. There are also two incomplete foliation sequences written in pencil (uncircled) and appearing in the same portion of most of the folios.
