The letter is informing the Bombay Government of the arrival at Bushire of Lieutenant Livingston (returning bearing messages from Sir Harford Jones [Brydges]); Mr Jenkins, Deputy Commissary of Stores; and two further unamed Europeans (one a member of the Bombay Artillery, the other the Marine); all are en route to India abroad the Mornington. It notes that the ship's carpenter Mr Luster has been sent to serve aboard the Benares at his request. If further notes that William Bruce intends to return the public artificers along with Lieutenant Livingston, as their services are no longer required at Bushire, and that the the store lascars A term used by the British officials to describe non-European sailors employed on East India Company ships. will be retained as they possess skills not available locally.
The communication is also enclosing a receipt (not present) from Ahmed Beg for wool supplied, as per the instructions of Sir Gore Ouseley, to the Prince Royal Abez Merza [‘Abbās Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. ].
