The letter and its enclosure relates to the Resident’s response to acts of piracy (including the plunder of indigo from the British vessel Centaur ) by the subjects of the chief of Jaalan. Kemball writes that has written a letter to Mahomed bin Ali Beni Boo Ali, chief of Jaalan (copy, dated 5 February 1855, enclosed on folio 72), warning him of the consequences of any further acts of piracy committed by his subjects.
