The Chief Secretary orders the British Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. to write a letter of explanation to the Prince of Sherauz [Shīrāz] about an unauthorised letter of remonstrance sent by Captain Hardy, to Zekee Khan [Zaki Khan], minister to His Royal Highness Hossain Ali Mirza, on hearing that the latter was planning an attack on the Islands of Bahrain. The Chief Secretary mentions that the Governor in Council regards Captain Hardy’s letter as inconsistent with British neutrality and likely to renew Persian suspicions about British designs on Bahrain.
