Gentlemen,
I am directed by the Secretary of State for India to
inform you that Kis Majesty’s Government have no objection
to the proposal contained in your letter dated 30th January
1939 that your Company should make a landing ground for
aeroplanes in the vicinity of the drilling camp at Dukhan.
It is assumed that the site to be selected will lie outside
the territory in the south-west of Qatar (viz. the Jebel
Nakh$h) to which Ibn Saud has preferred a claim.
With reference to the last paragraph of your letter
I am to state that the issue of general regulations for
civil aircraft in Qatar is not at present contemplated.
I am to suggest that the general permission which you desire
to obtain from the Sheikh for the visits of the persons
referred to in that paragraph might be sought in the form of
a letter addressed to you by the Sheikh with reference to
article 6 of the agreement of the 17 th May, 1935.
