We, the undersigned, have agreed to what foliows:-That the
Treaty of Friendship,Commerce and Navigation betweenGreat
Britain and tfaskat,signed on the eighth day of Shaban 1308-H
corresponding to the 19th Farch 1891, will be prolonged by
this writing notwithstanding all, or any, correspondence
between His late Highness Sayid Faisal bin Turki and the
Glorious British Government in the matter of the revision
of that treaty. And it will remain in force for a period of
one year from this eleventh day of February 1927, corresponding
to the 8th Shaban 1345-H. unless a suitable Treaty by
agreement between His Hignness the Sultan of Haskat and Oman
and the Glorious British Government be substituted for that
ancient Treaty aforesaid. It is also understood that it
shall be open to the Dominion of Canada and the Irish Free
State to withdraw from the aforesaid Treaty at any time on
notice being given to that effect by His Majesty’s
Representative at Llaskat.
It is also understood tnat the Commonwealth of
Australia have withdrawn from participation in the aforesaid
Treaty as per notice given by His Hajesty’s Representative
at ^askat in his letter Ho.6 dated 3rd December 1923.
In confirmation thereof, we that is, we, Sayid ' uhammai
bin Ahmad, Mr,BpS.Thomas,0.B.E.,Sheikh Rashid bin Uzaiz and
Kaji Zuber bin Ali, Members of the Council of State, Maskat,
on behalf of His Highness Sayid Sir Taimur bin Faisal,X.C J.E.,
C.S.I., Sultan of T Hiskat and Oman, and I, Major G.p.Murphy,
I.A.,duly authorised agent for that purpose on benalf of
the Glorious British Government have signed this writing and
five copies and have affixed our seals thereto.
Done at Maskat this eleventh day of February 1927,
corresponding to eighth Shaban 1345-H,

The volume contains papers relating to the prolongation of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation between Great Britain and Maskat (Muscat), signed on 19 March 1891.

It mostly consists of correspondence regarding the extension of the Treaty for a further year for each year between 1919 and 1930. It also includes correspondence regarding: the insertion of a new clause in the 1923 extension of the Treaty regarding the right of the Dominion of Canada and the Commonwealth of Australia to withdraw from the Treaty; the subsequent expression by the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia in 1923 of its desire to withdraw from the Treaty; the provision made in the renewal of the Treaty signed at Muscat in 1929 entitling the Irish Free State to withdraw from the Treaty; and the proposed revision of the Treaty.

In addition, the volume includes a copy of the Treaty signed in 1891 (folios 187 to 192), and copies of the documents prolonging the Treaty.
