The file consists of correspondence between the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain and the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain (Charles Dalrymple Belgrave) concerning the Salifah Court, Bahrain, which handled judicial cases relating to the pearl diving trade in Bahrain.
The correspondence concerns the organisation, composition and functions of the Salifah Court.
The Arabic language content of the papers consists of bilingual correspondence in Arabic and English between the Government of Bahrain and the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. , Bahrain.
