The file contains correspondence between the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) representative, the Adviser to the Governement of Bahrain, the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Bahrain and the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf Historically used by the British to refer to the sea area between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Often referred to as The Gulf or the Arabian Gulf. on the employment of Bahrain, Indian, British and American labour by BAPCO for the construction of the Refinery in Bahrain, and on the working conditions in the BAPCO camps. The file includes draft contracts and correspondence on cases of unlawful emigration from India and Persia to Bahrain and on the working conditions of Indian labour.
