Content

The volume comprises telegrams, despatches, correspondence, memoranda, and notes relating to civilian officers under the Government of India volunteering for military service with the War Office during the First World War. Topics discussed include the activities of officers on loan, such as intelligence, liaison with Indian troops, and administration. Also discussed are requests for them to be returned to their duties with the Government of India and repercussions for military operations in Europe.
