criticizm chatacteristic of him. He mostly cracks jokes
on the King of TransJordan Used in three contexts: the geographical region to the east of the River Jordan (literally ‘across the River Jordan’); a British protectorate (1921-46); an independent political entity (1946-49) now known as Jordan , General Nuri Basha, ex-Premier of
Iraq and other Arab personalities who,in his opinion and as
he describes them, are Britain's hirlings.
So far as I know he has never written or published anything
about Bahrain in particular or about the ^ulf in general.

No.C/L-203; D.O.No.C/305-9A) between the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Bahrain; Cornelius James Pelly ( Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain) and Charles Dalrymple Belgrave (Adviser to the Bahrain Government).

At the request of the Resident, Pelly investigated the recent distribution and sale of the newspaper al-Arab in Bahrain, by local bookseller Salman Kamal, at first mistakenly identified as Ibrahim bin Mohammed. Pelly sought the advice of Belgrave.

Arrangement

File papers are arranged chronologically. At the end of the file are two pages of file notes including a list of file contents, which comprise three documents. The list also records the reference numbers ‘1’, ‘2’ and ‘3’ which have been written on the three documents in blue or red crayon.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: numbered 1 to 5 in pencil in the top right hand corner and encircled. The numbering starts at the front of the file, on the first file enclosure (f.1) and ends on the inside cover at the back of the file (f.5). The front file cover is not foliated.
