Sir,
With reference to your letter dated 18th May,
1932, JiOo^of^S-N^S, on the subject of the flags of
Bahrain and Qatar, 1 am directed hy the Secretary of
State for India to forward, for the information of the
Oovernnent of India, copy of a letter from the
Admiralty, which is self-explanatory. i am to request
that the Political Hesident may be asked to furnish
in due course a report on the points ral sed by the
Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty.
So Copy of this letter, together with the original
enclosure to the Admiralty letter, is being sent
direct by to-day's air mail to the
Political Resident
A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency.

These papers concern various enquiries made by the British Admiralty between 1929 and 1938 regarding flags flown by the sheikhs of Qatar, Bahrain and the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. . Contained within this file are descriptions and sketches of various flags, as well as a specimen of fabric (f. 38) demonstrating the colour of the flag flown by the Shaikh of Qatar, ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī.
