The letter relates to five manumitted slaves currently residing at Bassadore [Bāsa‘īdū] for passage to Bombay. Kemball writes that the eldest of the five slaves has requested he be freed to earn a livelihood at Bassadore, and that, given his age of about eighteen or nineteen, Kemball has agreed to this request.
