A collection of letters received by the Acting Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Bushire. Two letters are from Edward M Wood, Secretary to Government, Bombay. The first contains copies of letters between Wood and Charles Malcolm, Superintendent of the Indian Navy, concerning the ship the Hugh Lindsay . The second contains copies of correspondence between Charles Malcolm, Superintendent of the Indian Navy, and Robert Grant, President and Governor in Council, Bombay, and between Wood and Francis Rawdon Chesney, on the best means of establishing a packet communication between Bombay and Khorramshahr. Three letters are from John Pollard Willoughby. One refers to a certificate granted by the Imam of Muscat, Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd, to the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. of Muscat, Khojah Rubin, and includes a copy of a letter from the Imam of Muscat to William Henry Wathen, Chief Secretary to Government, Bombay, concerning the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. of Muscat. In the second Willoughby requests the immediate issue and distribution of a proclamation to all the ports on the Arabian Coast. The third is concerned with the Chief of Abu Dhabi and his wish to declare war against Bahrain. There is one letter from Rawdon Chesney, Commander of the Euphrates Expedition, Bombay, to Samuel Hennell, Bushire, giving instructions and an inscription for a tombstone for a man from the Euphrates expedition who died at Bushire. Two letters are from William Henry Wathen, Chief Secretary to Government, Bombay, acknowledging letters and copies of letters received from the Acting Resident.
