Abdulla bin Naaer a conatahle in the Baara Police
arrived in Bahrain about a month and a half a^ro, having
been sent on a tour by the Police authorities in Basra with
a view to jrettinp; recruits for the Police Force. Pe ex
tended his tour to Hassa, and has just returned having
obtained 7 recruits fron there. Ho states t>"at he was very
well received in Ha>aa, and that no difficulties were made
as to his obtaining: his recruits. The general feeling in
Hassa is, according to his statement, extremely friendly
to us. The whole district seems to be quiet, and caravans
(
come and go without molestation from robbers. Abdul Latif
Handsel, Bin Saud^ financial agent, is now in Hassa en
gaged at the request of Bin Saud in re-oreranising the taxes
Customs dues etc. Some of his nchemos have given rise to
discontent among the principal merchants, but tMs feeling
need not be regarded as of important at present. On the
whole the present state of a^fiirs in Hassa seems to be
most satisfactory.
Abdulla bin Naser appears to be an intelligent and capable
individual. He is originally from ^ofuf, ani was formerly
employed in the Turkish service in Ha^sa. Afterwards he
cane to Bahrain, where he was employed as a 'fidawi* -
minor official of the local novernment attached to the
