PERSIAN GULF The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , TO SHAIKH SIR MUBARAK-US-SUBAH,
RULEE OF KUWAIT, REGARDING OIL DEPOSITS AT
KUWAIT, DATED THE 27 th OCTOBER 1913.
After compliments. And after with reference to the conversation which
took place between us yesterday, if you see no objection therein I wish with
your consent to inform the British Government that you are agreeable to the
visit of Admiral Slade in order that he may inspect the places (showing traces
of) bitumen at Burgan and elsewhere and that if there seems in his view a
hope of obtaining oil therefrom, Your Excellency agrees not to give a conces
sion in this regard to anyone other than a person nominated and recommended
by the British Government.
This is what was necessary to communicate to you and mav vou be
preserved. J J

Arrangement

There is a list of the serial numbers of the contents toward the front of each volume, on folios 3 and 23.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation sequence commences at 1 on the front cover of volume one, the first folio after the outer cover. Volume one is numbered 1-20. The sequence then continues into volume two, resuming at 21, the first folio after the inner cover of that volume. Volume two is numbered 21-40. The sequence terminates at 40, the last folio before the back inner and back outer covers. These numbers are written in pencil, are enclosed in a circle, and appear in the top right hand corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. page of each folio. Incomplete printed pagination sequences also occur in both the English and Arabic sections.
