Sir,
1 am directed "by Secretary Sir E. Grey to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th instant
enclosing a copy of a telegram from Sir P. Gox to the
Government of India in which he enquires whether it would
not now be logical, in view of the Anglo-Turkish Convention
respecting the
Persian Gulf

Sir K. Grey gathers that no action is proposed on

to act on the suggestion made by Sir P. Cox. He considers
it better to wait until the convention comes into force,
and does not appreciate how great local inconvenience
