The letter relates to the visit to Bahrain (via Bombay) of Beghet Aga of Egypt, sent on behalf of the Viceroy of Egypt.

A number of enclosures are included with Goldsmid's letter, intended to keep Kemball updated of events:

1. A copy of letter no.1648 of 1853 (folios 46-47) from Goldsmid to the Honourable Charles Augustus Murray, Her Majesty's Consul General for Egypt, dated 13 April 1853, giving details of Beghet Aga's passage via steamer from Bombay to Bahrain

2. A copy of letter no.13 of 1853 (folios 48-49) from Captain Stafford Haines, Captain of the Indian Navy and Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Aden, to Arthur Malet, Chief Secretary of the Government, Bombay, dated 18 March 1853. The letter gives details of Beghet Aga's intention to sail direct to Muscat, a journey not possible because the only steamer headed for the Gulf at the time (the Queen ) had insufficient free cabins to accommodate the Aga's harem;

3. A copy of a letter (folios 50-51) from Charles Augustus Murray, Her Majesty's Consul General for Egypt to Captain Stafford Haines, to Captain of the Indian Navy and Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Aden. The letter was sent with Beghet Aga, to inform Haines of Aga's requirements for onward transportation;

4. A copy of letter no.108 of 1853 (folios 52-53) from Captain Stafford Haines, Captain of the Indian Navy and Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Aden, to Arthur Malet, Chief Secretary of the Government, Bombay, dated 26 March 1853. Haines states that those members of Beghet Aga's party who have contracted smallpox will stay in Aden for the time being;

5. A copy of letter no.107 of 1853 (folios 53-54) from Captain Stafford Haines, Captain of the Indian Navy and Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Aden, to Commander C. Montrion, Senior Naval Officer at Aden, dated 24 March 1853. Haines states that the Honourable Company's steamer Victoria will be used to convey Beghet Aga's party to Muscat or Bombay.
