The letter relates to the Wahhabi expedition to Oman, led by Abdullah ben Fysul [Abdullah bin Faisal], and a shipwrecking off Fujeerah [Fujairah].
The letter has three enclosures:
1. Letter no.19 (folio 87) from Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, to Captain Arnold Kemball, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , dated 19 February 1853. The letter is a covering letter enclosing the Lieutenant Tronson's letter (below);
2. Letter no.25 of 1853 (folios 88-89) from Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, to Lieutenant James Tronson, Commanding Officer of the Honourable Company's Brigantine Tigris , dated 14 February 1853. Tronson reports that the Wahhabi force, comprising '3,000 camel men' and '500 horse men', has arrived at Brahine [al Buraimi?]. Tronson also reports of the wrecking in a storm off Fujairah of a ship carrying dates, treasure, pearls and pilgrims;
3. Letter no.82 of 1853 (folios 90-91) from Captain Arnold Kemball, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, dated 3 March 1853. The letter concerns the shipwrecked and plundered ship off Fujairah. Kemball writes that, given that some of the passengers on the boat were British subjects, and much of the cargo headed for India, British officials should press Sultan bin Suggar, who is responsible for the Fujairah coastline, for information about the plunder.
