The letter is reporting that the mare presented to the late Andrew Jukes by Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd, the Imam of Muscat, was not exchanged by the broker Often a local commercial agent in the Gulf who regularly performed duties of intelligence gathering and political representation. , but the Imam himself. This was done in consequence of the mare's illness.
