Treatise on the construction of a pneumatic pipe organ (الأرغين الزمري; lit. 'reed-pipe organ'). The instrument is said to produce all manner of wonderous sounds, which cause their listeners by turns to weep, fall asleep at once, rejoice and dance, and lose their senses (f. 6v, lines 3-6, transcribed below).

A diagram of the organ appears on f. 10v.

Begins (f. 6v, lines 2-6):

هذه رسالة أخرى لمورسطس

الأرغين الزمري الجامع لجميع هذه الأصوات العجيبة

وهو أن يسمعك تبكي بكاء عجيبًا شديدًا أو يسمعك صوتًا مرقدًا

ينيّم صاحبه على المكان ويسمعك صوتًا تطرب وترقص ويسمعك

صوتًا يسهل ويذهب بالعقل ...

Ends (f. 10r, lines 5-12):

... فإنما مثلنا هذه الآلة

على قدر المواضع التي قد تركبت في الإنسان فمن أحسن

فراج آلات الصوت وأرادها بعقل لطيف صوت بكل

صوت يريده من جميع لغات الحيوان كله مما في البر

والبحر وليس بقدر أحد على مزاج هذه الآلات المركبة

في الإنسان حتى يخرج الصوت على مثل ما

وصفنا إلا بمثل هذه الآلة الموصوفة

فاعلم ذلك
