The letter — in response to a communication No. 11 from the Resident dated 26 October 1852 — is informing the Resident that Shaikh Sultan bin Suggur's [Sulṭān bin Saqr] remonstrance will be passed on to the the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. ; the Shaikh is appealing against a ruling, which decided that compensation payments for violations of the Maritime Truce should be paid directly to injured parties, and not through their ruler.
