The letter is reporting that the Resident has successfully mediated a reconciliation between Shaikh Mahomed bin Khuleefah [Muḥammed bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], Chief of Bahrein [Bahrain], and Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah; it notes that the negotiations were conducted as part of the Resident's annual tour of the Arabian Coast.

It is explained that the continued residence of Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah at Demaun [Ad-Dammān] should not be seen as a failure, as his exile to Koweit [Kuwait], or the Persian Coast would not have offered Bahrein much additional security.

The item has four enclosures:

1. Translation of the terms of the reconciliation between the Chief of Bahrein, and Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah. In which the latter gives up any claim to Bahrein, and declares that he will not take part in any future hostilities against that island. In return, he will receive a maintenance allowance.

2. Translation of a letter from the Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. to the Chief of Bahrein, dated 23 May 1855.

The enclosure explains how the agreement between the Chief of Bahrein and Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah is to operate.

3. Translation of a letter from the Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. to Shaikh Mahomed ben Abdullah, dated 23 May 1855.

The enclosure also explains how the agreement between the Chief of Bahrein and Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah is to operate. It also includes a note concerning a levy on the estates of Shaikh Mahomed ben Abdullah; it states that the levy will be foregone if Ameer Fysul [Amīr Fayṣul] foregoes the quota due from the Chief of Bahrein.

4. Translation of a letter from the Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. to Ameer Fysul, dated 24 May 1855.

The enclosure is reporting that the Resident has successfully mediated a reconciliation between the Chief of Bahrein and Shaikh Mahomed bin Abdullah. It requests Ameer Fysul's cooperation in maintaining the agreement reached.
