About this item

Content

The letter is conveying the particulars of an interview held with Alee ben Iraheem, an envoy for Shaikh Mahomed ben Khuleefa [Muḥammed bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], Chief of Bahrein [Bahrain] on 1 October 1855.

The subject matter discussed includes a complaint that Shaikh Mahomed ben Abdullah is not sharing his Bahrein revenue fairly and equitably with his brothers; the Chief of Bahrein's concerns respecting an attempt the Al Ali tribe may make to relocate from Ges to Kuteef [Al-Qaṭīf]; and Disbrowe's insistence that all maritime irregularities should be reported to the British Resident in the Gulf no matter how minor.

It also reports that Ameer Fysul [Amīr Fayṣul], the Wahabee [Wahabi] Chief, appears to desire to maintain the reconciliation mediated by Arnold Kemball, late Resident in the Gulf, between the Chief of Bahrein and his exiled relative, Shaikh Mahomed ben Abdullah.
