Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
your Confidential Despatch N 0.269, of the 5th of
Seotember last, in regard to the proposed revision of
the Oommercial Treaty between Great Britain and Muskat,
His Majesty's Government in the Union of
South Africa is of opinion that the Treaty in question
is of little or no interest to the Union and has,
therefore, decided that the Union shall no longer remain
a party to it. There is, therefore, no intention on
the part of the Union to renew the Treaty after its
expiration in February 1932.
It may also be stated that the provisions c£
Article 4 are contrary to the Asiatic policy of the
Union.
