letter No.P.Z.2777/33
of 26th Maj/, 1933, and connected correspondence regarding the
renewal of the Muscat Oommercial Treaty, I am directed by the
Secretary of State for India to forward a copy of a telegram
from the (jovernment of India proposing to authorise the
Political Agent
A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency.
at Muscat to renew the treaty for a further
period of twelve months.
2. Subject to the concurrence of the Secretary of State
for Foreign Affairs, Sir Samuel Hoare proposes to sanction
the renewal. He presumes that in the event of the renewal
being approved the Foreign Office will require the usual
number of copies of the Arabic and English texts of the
document prolonging the treaty.
3, Copies of this letter are being sent to the
Colonial Office, Dominions Office and Board of Trade.
