"A report from Bahrain states that, as a result of
discussions which have been in progress for some time
with 'Iraq for conclusion of a trade agreement between
the two countries, 'Iraq has now decided to establish
a Trade Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. at Bahrain."
2. I know of nothing which could have given rise to this
extraordinary statement, unless the informant has produced a garbled
version of the discussions about transit dues with the Sa'udi Arabia
Government. I have consulted the Adviser to the Bahrain Government
