February 1956.
<?. The intention of clause 1 is presumably to indemnify
the Iraq Government against the Government of the country
where the Iraqi is employed in the event of his coming into
conflict with the authorities. The need for such an indem
nity would however appear to be discounted in the present
case by the fact that the Bahrain Petroleum Company are pre
pared to, and in fact do in practice already,repatriate Iraqis
whom for any reason they have ceased to employ. If clause
2 were extended to cover return to Iraq on ceasing to be
employed by the Company, and not only as at present on being
required to leave by
