Letter a enclosing letter for the Governor of Bombay from His Royal Highness the Prince of Shiraz, along with copies and translations of letters from both the Prince and Zakee Khan [Zakī Khān].

Enclosures:

  • Translation of a letter from His Royal Highness the Prince of Shiraz to Lieutenant-Colonel Stannus, C B, 7th Mohurrum [Muharram] 1242 (August 1826), discussing the vessel Noosrut (also given as Nusrut) Shah and asking that should Stannus hear of her he should attempt to obtain her restitution for the Persian Government.
  • Translation of a letter from Zaqee Khan [Zakī Khān], Prime Minister of Fars, to Lieutenant Colonel Stannus (undated), regarding the ship Noosrut Shah , including intelligence gathered from its Captain, and describing the conduct of His Highness Saed Syed [Sa‘id bin Sulṭān], who was accused of having seized the ship from Abdool Russool [‘Abd al-Rasūl]. The letter summarises Abdool Russool's assignment by the Prince of Shiraz to escort 'the Princess' to Mecca and that he had trusted Sultan Saed Syed to care for his property whilst he was undertaking the assignment, but that the Sultan had seized his vessel ( Nusrut Shah) during his absence.

The copies of letters are signed as true translations by Samuel Hennell, Assistant to the Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
