Letter reporting on a conversation with the Imam of Muscat regarding affairs in the Gulf including:
- The Imam no longer possessing any influence over the Sooedan [Sūwaydān] Tribe, and that the tribe had now become reconciled with Sultan ben Suggur
- The Imam's determination to assert his rights at Bussorah [Basra], including his having instructed his fleet to prevent vessels travelling between there and the Gulf, and noting that the instruction did not apply to Indian Navy vessels however.
The letter also discusses Colonel Stannus's communications with the Shaikh of Bushire [‘Abd al-Rasūl Khān] and includes a translation of a letter received from the Shaikh.
