Letter regarding a despatch received from Lieutenant Colonel John Macdonald which contained a Firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). from His Persian Majesty (Fath ʻAlī Shāh) to His Royal Highness the Governor of Fars (Ḥosayn-‘Alī Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. ) on the subject of communications received by Colonel Stannus from the Government discussing the rupture between the Imam of Muscat (Saʻīd bin Sulṭān) and Shaik Abdool Russool Khan [‘Abd al-Rasūl Khān].
The letter also refers to enclosed copies of the correspondence referred to in the Firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). (which are no longer enclosed); and expresses Colonel Stannus's hope that correspondence from the Government of Shiraz will be more regulated in future.
