Letter regarding discussions with the authorities at Shiraz in regard to British property shipwrecked on the coast of Dashtee [Dashtī].

The question is raised by the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. as to whether the Royal Grant that secured plundered cargo lost on Persian territory was still considered binding by the Shiraz government, to which Stannus responds that all records relating to the Grant and the re-establishment of the Factory An East India Company trading post. at Bushire in 1775 can not now be found at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. , but that the commercial agreement of 1801 by Sir John Malcolm and later confirmed in 1814 by James Morier and Henry Ellis afford ample protection for British property.

Enclosed with the letter is an extract from the fifth article of the Commercial Treaty with Persia, covering the protections for British property lost on persian territory.
