With reference to the earlier correspondence
on the subject of the revision of the Muscat Treaty of 1891'
I am directed "by the Secretary of State to forward
(a) two signature copies, in English and in Arabic,
of the draft treaty, the text of which has been
approved by His Majesty's G-overnraent, the Government
of India, and the Sultan of Muscat. Of these, the
copy for retention by the Sultan has been prepared
with the English text following the Arabic;
^ (b) spare copies of the draft Treaty]
^ (c) the instrument conveying the full powers issued
by His Majesty authorising you to sign the Treaty
for G-reat Britain and Northern Ireland and for India;
and
^ (d) a personal seal for your use in signing the
Treaty.
S. Approval by His Majesty 1 s Government and the
Government of India of -the signature of the Treaty is
dependent on the completion of the following procedure, to
which the Sultan has already agreedi
(i) An exchange of letters with the Sultan with

(ii) Acceptance by the Sultan of a confidential letter,
in terms already agreed to by His Highness, placing on
record the procedure agreed on for the operation of

The volume contains correspondence relating to the signing of a new treaty between Great Britain and the Sultan of Muscat 'to replace the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation signed at Muscat on the 19th March, 1891, which terminates on the 11th February, 1939.'
