Meal, and boil em in Water with Roch-Allum and
and apply 'em as hot as may beendur'd upon the fide; the one
behind and the other before; this Remedy nluft be dayly re
peated till the Cure be perfected.

The moft ulual Cute for Agues in this Country, is to make
Plaifters of the Fat of aSheeps Rutttp, Cinamon, Cloves and
Cardamomes, and all the time of the cold fit to lay rhele Piai-
fters upon the Foreheac^ Stomach and Feet. When the hot
fit is over, take off thbfe Plaifters and lay on others, made of
the Leaves of Ckhory, Plantain, and the Herb call'd Solannm
or Nightfliade, afterwards they take a Sucking-Pig, cut it in
two and clap it to the Feet All which tfme the Patient is fed
with Bread and Cream of Almonds, eating nothing that is
boy I'd.
Father Q^dphdet aflur'd me that he had feen 'em in that Coun
try cure Agues, by carrying the Patient in the height of his
Cold fit and plunging him over Head and Ears in the Water.
It is a thing hard to be beleiv'd; and in Truth, to me it appear'd
a thing altogether Extravagant, in regard it feem'd ro be lo.
Dangerous. However it is obferv'd that the difference of
Climates and Temperaments of Countrys produces far diffe
rent efife&s in Remedies, fo that the Remedy, if I may fo
fey, that Kills in one: Country, ddesbut only ftir a Man in
aftother.
In the Evening the Princes Chaoceliors Secretary, brought
hie the Officer who was to condu^fc me to j and in my
J)relence give him the Letter of Orders for his fo doing. Of
