The Coronation
"thereupon with a Nod of his Head condefcended to their Re-
queft; and withal, ordered this farther Complement to be put

Thofe laft words included his laft leave, which they alio
took, with mod fubmiffive Obeyfances after the man
ner, the moft relpe£tful that could be imagined. And thus they
retired after an Audience of three quarters of an Hour. About
Four in the Afternoon, they lent their Interpreter to the General
of the Mulquetteers to return him Thanks for the Trouble he
had given himfelf, in procuring them fo favourable an Audi
ence, and for the continuance of his kindnefs they belbught him
to accept as a pledge of their farther acknowledgment a Silver
Watch, and fifty Ducats of Gold.
The Englifli Agent in 'Perfta, Sir Flowre, uuderlland-
ing that the Dutch had had Audience of his Majefty, was not a
little lurpriled, but much more vexed to fee himfelf prevented
and therefore he was no lefs importunate to have his; and
therefore, to the end he might be admitted to kifs the Kings
Feet, he took the fame way and method which the Dutch Em-
baffadour had done : for indeed there was no-other way: and
had therefore the fame fuccefs. For two days after, being
accompanied with his Second in the Factory An East India Company trading post. , about Nine of the
Clock in the Morning he was introduced by the
Mufquptteers to make his Obeyfance to the King; his Interpreter
and his Collegue coming behind him. After the nfual Cere
monies he prefented the Prince with two hundred half Guineys,
according to the felf-interefted Cuftom of the Eaft, where the
Kings ftiling themfelves Gods Lieutenants, forbid all People to
appear in their Prefence without an Offering. Prefendy he fate
down by the Command of the Prince,and bv his Interpreter, and
in the behalf of the Englifli Nation and Company,wiflied hiift
a long and flourifliing Reign. Afterwards he made a Oioft
rehearfal of the great Services which the Englifh Nation had
done the Kings of 'Perfia his Anceftors of Immortal memory.
For which reafbn thofe Triumphant Monarchshad always fa
voured the Englifh Nation more than any other Nation of
rope, of which he was affured his Majefty was well informed ;
for which reafbn he hoped that his Majefty would continue the
fame favours to the Englifli Nation,and grant them a Confirma
tion of all the Treaties and Priviledges which had been granted
