The letter is reporting on the Resident's efforts to transmit various papers to Bombay to assist with the case of Mahomed Nebbee Khan [Muḥammad Nabī Khān] and the associated investigation into William Bruce, former Resident at Bushire. It outlines a number of papers he has not yet been able to procure, and explains that the records of Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. correspondence is patchy; it notes that the incomplete record of correspondence has hampered the Resident's ability to undertake his current duties.

It also explains that he has examined the firm of Messrs Arratoon and Arrakeel Constantine; it notes he has also looked at their account books.

The letter further details a possible explanation for an entry of 22,576 toomans [ tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. ] made by William Bruce on the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. accounts, that is currently under investigation at Bombay. It also reports on the circumstances surrounding the sale of the Ahmed Shah to William Bruce, and mentions that about 1000 toomans of property (including jewels) belonging to the late Mahomed Nebbee Khan is currently being held in the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. treasury.

1 - Enclosure No 1A, substance of a deed of sale of Mahomed Nebbee Khan's property by Meeza Mehdy, son of Hajie Hady, to William Bruce, dated Shiraz 18 December 1813.

2 - Enclosure No 2A, substance of a letter from Mahomed Ali Khan [Muḥammad ‘Alī Khān] to Mahomed Nebbee Khan, received 1 April 1814, which regards the delivery of Masulipatnam [Machilipatnam] goods to the 'company's agent' Goolab.

3 - Enclosure No 3, substance of three letters (one to the Captain of the Derea Begee , one to Hajee Mahomed, and one to Aga Ali Ruza) from Mahomed Nebbee Khan respecting the sale of Chintz to William Bruce, dated 17 and 18 April 1814. It notes that William Bruce has agreed to settle Mahomed Nebbee Khan's affairs with the Persian Government.

4 - Enclosure No 6, copy of power of attorney from William Bruce to Arratoon Constantine, dated 13 August 1814, instructing him on how to settle Mahomed Nebbee Khan's affairs with Mahomed Ali Khan of Bombay.

5 - Enclosure No 9, duplicate receipt from Messrs Arratoon and Arrakeel Constantine for the conveyance of a packet by the Ahmed Shah, in consideration of alterations made to the voyage.

6 - Enclosure No 15A, translation of a receipt from the wife of Mahomed Nebbee Khan, dated March 1816, for property deposited with William Bruce for the purpose of settling the demands of the Persian Government.

7 - Enclosure No 16, list of the principal letters sent by the Resident at Bushire, William Bruce, respecting the affair of the late Mahomed Nebbee Khan.

8 - Enclosure No 17, examination of Arratoon Constantine by John Macleod, dated Bushire 7 June 1823, respecting the affair of the late Mahomed Nebbee Khan.

9 - Enclosure No 18, further examination of Arrakeel Constantine by John Macleod, dated 8 June 1823, respecting the affair of the late Mahomed Nebbee Khan.
