The letter reports that Captain Hardy has received word from the agent at Sheraz [Shiraz], Merza Ali Ackha, indicating that Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, Prince at Sheraz, intends to attack Bahrain. It further reports that the Prince has sent the Shaikh of Bushire to negotiate with Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd, the Imam of Muscat, for his assistance in the endeavour.

It outlines that Captain Hardy has cautioned the Prince to suspend any intended hostilities until the British Government can be acquainted with his intentions.

Enclosed with the letter is a translation of the report sent by the agent at Sheraz.
